Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has been developing rapidly, both in sophistication and prevalence in our culture and business landscape. With this as a backdrop, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) released ISO/IEC 42001:2023, Information technology - Artificial intelligence-Management system Standard, in December 2023. The Standard is aimed at guiding organisations in their responsible and effective use, development, monitoring or provision of products that utilise AI, addressing a range of topics including ethical considerations, transparency, fairness and bias as they relate to AI.
Organisations will, soon, have the opportunity to certify against ISO 42001. In the meantime, they can apply the guidance defined in the Standard by establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an AI management system (AIMS), one of the core requirements of which is the completion of an AI impact assessment (AIIA). With ISO 42001 written in the familiar harmonised structure used for other management system standards, such as ISO 27001 and ISO 9001, it is not only possible but recommended that the AIMS is integrated with existing management systems.
In this webinar, URM will draw upon its extensive experience supporting organisations to establish and implement a range of management systems, which conform to the relevant ISO standard, in order to offer advice and guidance on ISO 42001.
URM’s webinar will address the following topics:
- What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
- The intent of ISO 42001 – what it is, and what it is not
- The perspectives of fairness, transparency, and bias in the context of AI
- How ISO 42001 is structured
- Integrating your AI and ISO 27001 information security management systems?
- What AI impact assessments are and how to complete them
- An update on ISO 42001 certification
